Box Lookup
Attention Mobile Users
I have added a modified box lookup page that should work on most all mobile devices. To access it
directly go to Getbox.FDNewYork.com. Let me know what you think, good or bad.
You can use this form to look up the location of any box in the city.
Note: Box numbers must have 4 digits. Use leading zeros: 0024, 0113, etc.
New 7000 series Box Numbers
The new box numbers were created to help 911's Sprint link them to Starfire. In their system they use station numbers.
When Sprint sent the station number to Starfire as an address, it had no idea how to convert it to a street location.
Now, the station numbers are part of the box number. (e.g. station 24 in Brooklyn is box 7024.) In Queens , however,
we're using 400 series boxes since they already had a 7000 series.
It's going to take me a while to get the new boxes into the database.
ATTENTION GOOGLE EARTH USERS!
I have plotted all Brooklyn street boxes onto a Google Earth overlay. Try it out and let me know what you think about it.
